I believe I have already mentioned how much I loved using the NOAA Coastal Services Website when I was researching weather patterns and hurricane movements in Louisiana between the First and Second World Wars. (And if I never did mention it, I LOVED being able to reference weather charts from 75 years ago online.) Now I have found another amazing Website: The U.S. Naval Observatory Website.
I was writing this scene that takes place in the early morning hours when I realized I don't know anything about the moon phases or even when the sun rises where I live now let alone across the country before I was born. Nor do I even pay attention to when the moon is out. Okay, I remember some pretty freaky Halloweens when I was a kid with a full moon coming out in the pitch of night, looking almost blood-red in the thick atmosphere. But what about in the summer? Well, now thanks to the U.S. Naval Observatory, I know.
So it took me about half an hour to write one line, but now I know that line is historically and astrologically and geographically sound. I love research!
Now I really need to get back to writing so I can fulfill the WFMAD challenge without having to fudge it by saying I was writing research notes.
